National Adaptive Stress Research Institute

The National Adaptive Stress Research Institute provides technical, analytical, and field support services to municipal, industrial, and federal partners under fixed-price and cost-reimbursable arrangements. The service lines below are available individually or in combination and may be tasked against any of the contract vehicles listed on this page.

Service Lines

Statistical Data Audit and Validation

Independent review of client-supplied data sets for completeness, coding consistency, and conformance to stated collection protocols. Deliverables include a discrepancy register, a corrected data set, and a validation memorandum suitable for inclusion in a contract file. Audits are performed against the client's own protocol document. NASRI does not assess whether the protocol itself is appropriate to the population under study.

Human Factors Engineering

Analysis of operator and civilian performance under sustained load, with emphasis on mass-psychological coping thresholds and the point at which institutional cohesion degrades. Work products include threshold curves by demographic band, recommended crew rotation intervals, and estimates of the duration for which a given population matrix will continue to comply with posted instruction. Findings are delivered as engineering data and carry no clinical interpretation.

Continuity of Operations (COOP) Planning

Development, exercise, and annual revision of continuity plans for facilities designated critical by the client. Scope covers succession lists, alternate site activation, records relocation, and restoration of baseline continuity following interruption. NASRI maintains standing COOP annexes for 41 client facilities and reviews each on a 24 month cycle.

Systems Diagnostics and Failure Cascade Analysis

Modeling of interdependent technical and social systems to identify the sequence in which components fail once an initiating event has occurred. Analysis covers power, water, transport, food distribution, and public messaging, and treats civilian behavior as a load-bearing component of each. Outputs identify which subsystems may be permitted to fail without loss of the overall structure.

Longitudinal Cohort Management

Enrollment, tracking, and periodic reassessment of defined participant cohorts over multi-year observation windows. Services include baseline intake, scheduled follow-up, attrition accounting, and maintenance of the master roster. Cohorts under management as of December 1998 total 8,240 enrolled participants across four observation programs. Participants are identified by matrix code only, and cohort files are retained after an enrollment closes.

Field Instrumentation and Telemetry Services

Installation, calibration, and servicing of fixed and portable monitoring equipment at client sites, including environmental sensors, throughput counters, and ambulatory biometric units. Telemetry is returned to the facility data center on a 6 hour polling interval. Instrumentation is installed without site interruption and is not required to be visible to site occupants.

Records Management and Data Custody

Receipt, indexing, secure storage, and controlled release of client records, including records for which the originating office no longer exists. NASRI holds custody of approximately 2.1 million document pages and 14,700 magnetic media volumes. Custodial holdings are not subject to client-initiated destruction requests during the term of the governing contract. Custody inquiries are directed to records@nasri-us.com.

Technical Staffing and Assessor Placement

Placement of cleared technical personnel into client organizations on a detailed or embedded basis. Placements include statisticians, systems engineers, logistics planners, and field assessors qualified to conduct intake evaluation and threshold scoring at the point of contact. Assessors report through the NASRI program office rather than through the host organization. Average placement duration is 19 months.

Facility Siting and Throughput Analysis

Site selection, capacity modeling, and flow analysis for containment zones and critical infrastructure hubs. Studies address ingress and egress rates, dwell time, sanitation load, and staffing ratios at sustained occupancy. Standard modeling assumes an occupancy period of 90 days with no external resupply.

Public Information and Message Conditioning

Preparation and pretesting of instructional and advisory material for release during an operational stress environment. Message sets are evaluated against measured behavioral compliance vectors and revised until the modeled panic contagion vector falls below the client's stated tolerance. Pretesting is conducted on nonparticipating regional samples.
